Job Description

Manages corporate accounting, financial reporting and audit coordination for UNOPS, ensuring accurate general-ledger records, compliant financial statements and effective controls. The role analyses accounting standards and complex transactions, oversees close processes and reconciliations, supports internal and external audits, improves systems and automation, and builds financial-management capacity across headquarters and field offices.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review general-ledger transactions for accuracy and compliant accounting treatment
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly general-ledger closure processes
  • Prepare analyses and management reports on reconciliations and financial issues
  • Manage automation projects for general-ledger modules
  • Advise on general-ledger accounts and IPSAS-compliant accounting treatment
  • Oversee financial controls, reconciliations and corrective improvements
  • Prepare reports for the UN Board of Auditors, Executive Board and management
  • Coordinate follow-up on internal and external audit recommendations

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, financial management or a related field with seven years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in those disciplines with five years
  • Professional accounting or audit certification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CIA
  • Experience in financial reporting, audit and accounting in an international environment
  • Thorough knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to present data and reporting clearly
  • Experience working across teams and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Fluent English

  • Knowledge and experience in ERP-system development, process improvement and automation
