Job Description

IOM seeks a Field Engineer (Electrical) in Chuuk to deliver electrical components of Typhoon Sinlaku reconstruction. The consultant prepares designs and specifications, inspects electrical works, maintains field equipment and power systems, supports procurement and inventory, trains field personnel, and documents quality, maintenance and implementation across remote project sites.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review electrical scopes, specifications, estimates, bills of quantities and designs
  • Inspect electrical works for compliance with designs, codes, safety and quality requirements
  • Support installation and maintenance of generators, pumps, power systems and tools
  • Monitor electrical work quality and recommend corrective action
  • Plan preventive maintenance and equipment-material requirements
  • Support repairs of electrical and electromechanical equipment
  • Train field personnel and community working groups on safe equipment operation
  • Support procurement evaluation and inventory tracking of electrical equipment

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical, electromechanical or power engineering with two years of experience, or university degree with four years
  • Experience installing, inspecting, testing, operating and maintaining electrical systems
  • Experience with technical specifications, electrical drawings, estimates and bills of quantities
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable design and visualisation software

Desired Criteria

  • Professional engineering certification or electrical licence
  • Occupational health and safety, electrical safety, project-management or quality-management training
  • Donor-funded reconstruction or humanitarian-project experience
  • Experience in remote or resource-constrained environments
