Job Description
UNESCO seeks a remote consultant to deliver a rigorous global landscape analysis of Gen Z civic and political participation. Over three months, the expert will research the project’s five analytical lenses, engage possible Gen Z contributors, write and revise a 10–15-page manuscript, and integrate UNESCO and peer-review input to standards suitable for scholarly publication.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Undertake state-of-the-art research using the project’s Framing Document
- Identify additional contributors, including options to engage Gen Z young people
- Write the full landscape-analysis manuscript to UNESCO publication guidelines
- Produce a first draft, revisions and a satisfactory final draft
- Integrate UNESCO and peer-review inputs into the final publication
- Ensure research and publication meet scientific and academic rigor
Role Requirements
- PhD degree in social and political sciences, humanities, youth development or another field relevant to the publication
- At least 5 years of research experience in youth political and civic participation, including 1 year on or around Generation Z
- Record of high-quality scholarly research including peer-reviewed publications
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Desired Criteria
- At least two high-quality scholarly publications in the past five years on Gen Z civic and political participation
- University affiliation and teaching experience
- Knowledge of French or Spanish
