Job Description

UNESCO seeks a part-time consultant in Kyiv to coordinate the UNESRALE initiative in Ukraine. The consultant will assess research-infrastructure needs, build partnerships with universities and technology providers, connect Ukrainian and international infrastructures, deliver training, and prepare reports, proposals, needs assessments, case studies and communications materials for UNESCO.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation of the UNESRALE remote-access-to-laboratory-equipment initiative in Ukraine
  • Design analytical frameworks, deploy surveys and assess scientific-infrastructure needs
  • Build partnerships with foreign universities, research institutions and technology providers
  • Facilitate collaboration between Ukrainian and international research infrastructures
  • Support online and offline training and workshops for beneficiaries
  • Prepare progress reports, concept notes and project proposals
  • Prepare needs assessments, best-practice reports and case studies
  • Prepare UNESCO communications materials

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in natural sciences, engineering and technology or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience in science, applied research or international research or technical-cooperation projects
  • Demonstrated experience using research equipment and understanding laboratory research methods, experimental procedures and scientific workflows
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Ukrainian

Desired Criteria

  • PhD or Doctor of Sciences degree
  • Knowledge of another UNESCO official language
