Economist

Provides economic and analytical leadership for UNSCO’s transitional planning, recovery and development work. The role builds programming, financing and monitoring frameworks, applies AI-enabled analysis to conflict and economic risks, leads research and AHLC engagement, and supports senior decision-making, policy dialogue and coordination with Palestinian and international partners.

• Lead development of common country, results, financing and monitoring frameworks
• Conduct socioeconomic analysis, foresight and horizon scanning for transitional planning
• Design analytical workflows for data collection, scenario modelling, costing and AI-enabled drafting
• Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks with results chains, baselines and indicators
• Advise on financing needs, flows and instruments across humanitarian, recovery and development efforts
• Maintain risk, political-economy and conflict-analysis frameworks with mitigation and early-warning indicators
• Lead research, reporting and engagement on Ad Hoc Liaison Committee issues
• Coordinate biannual UNSCO reporting to the AHLC and support policy dialogue with public and financial-sector partners

• Advanced degree in Economics, Sustainable Development, Public Policy, Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences or a related area, or a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least seven years of relevant economic analysis, sustainable-development policy or programme-management experience with a master’s degree, or nine years with a bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of experience with the UN or an international financial institution in a complex conflict or occupation context
• At least two years leading UN country-level engagement on joint EU-WB-UN crisis assessments in a conflict context
• Experience with strategic aid coordination as part of a peace process
• Fluency in English

• Experience in political economy or conflict analysis in transition, post-conflict or fragile settings
• Experience designing results, monitoring and evaluation or recovery-financing frameworks
• Experience advising senior management on sustainable-development, economic or political-economy matters
• Experience using generative AI or advanced data-analytics tools for economic analysis, foresight or reporting
