Construction Specialist

The Construction Specialist plans, coordinates, implements and monitors the infrastructure component of the Girls’ Learning and Empowerment Project in Ituri. Based in Bunia, the role delivers quality school infrastructure within schedule, budget and UNICEF technical standards, coordinating closely with government counterparts, partners and UNICEF teams to meet World Bank requirements.

• Plan and coordinate the infrastructure component of the Girls’ Learning and Empowerment Project in Ituri
• Implement and monitor quality school infrastructure within timelines, budgets and UNICEF technical standards
• Coordinate with UNICEF programme and operations teams and government counterparts
• Prepare and review technical and design documents
• Support procurement processes
• Manage and monitor infrastructure projects while meeting World Bank environmental, social and fiduciary requirements

• Advanced university degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or a related field
• At least five years of relevant experience in project management, site supervision, quality assurance or directly related technical fields
• Experience in constructing schools and basic infrastructure in developing countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa
• Understanding of development and humanitarian work
• Fluency in French and English

• Experience with the United Nations or another international development organisation
• Experience in emergency and fragile-security situations
• Experience engaging stakeholders
• Relevant country-level experience in development, fragile and humanitarian contexts
• Proficiency in another official United Nations language or a local language
