Job Description
Leads UNICEF’s Health and Nutrition Programme in South Africa, strengthening health systems, planning, implementation, monitoring and emergency readiness. The chief provides technical and managerial leadership, oversees programme resources and reporting, and builds partnerships with government and other stakeholders to improve child survival, nutrition and equitable health outcomes.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead the Health and Nutrition Programme and strengthen systems for child survival and development
- Provide technical leadership for programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Strengthen country-office capacity through programme management and capacity building
- Ensure accountability for supply and non-supply assistance and programme funds
- Build partnerships for advocacy, technical cooperation and programme coordination
- Prepare programme reports and maintain emergency preparedness and response
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Medicine, Health Systems, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, International Health, Health Policy, Health Administration or a related field
- At least 10 years of relevant national and international experience in health-system strengthening, planning, programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health and nutrition programmes
- Managerial or technical-expert experience in health, nutrition and child survival and health care
- Fluency in English
