Job Description

Support UNESCO's International Centre for Theoretical Physics on environmental and water-resource monitoring projects. The officer will deploy weather, gateway and water-level systems in the Maldives and Nile Basin, manage monitoring data and services, train technical staff, coordinate reporting and partners, document deployments, and conduct applied research for peer-reviewed publications.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Deploy low-cost weather stations, terrestrial gateways and water-level sensors in the Maldives
  • Support monitoring equipment deployments and data services across Nile Basin countries
  • Design and deliver IoT and wireless-technology training for local technical staff
  • Manage project activities, reporting and stakeholder communication with UNEP and national partners
  • Document technical deployment details and share them with local stakeholders
  • Conduct applied research on the resilience and effectiveness of deployed solutions

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in physics, engineering, computer science or a related field
  • At least one year of relevant experience in environmental or water-resources management
  • Excellent English

Desired Criteria

  • International and multidisciplinary research-environment experience is preferred
