Associate Data Engineer

Builds and improves geospatial and non-geospatial data infrastructure for the World Bank's Country Engagement unit. The role delivers reliable pipelines, quality controls and discoverable datasets that support geo-tagging, digital products and operational decisions, while translating business needs into scalable engineering solutions with GIS, product and technology colleagues.

• Validate and cleanse geospatial and non-geospatial data, including spatial attributes, coordinates, projections and metadata
• Implement automated testing and monitoring to identify and resolve spatial data-quality issues
• Optimize pipelines that gather, process and store large spatial datasets for platform and digital-twin capabilities
• Maintain data infrastructure and platforms to keep geospatial products and services reliable
• Build and improve automated pipelines, data acquisition processes and quality controls for the unit's work program
• Translate operational data needs into geospatial models and integration requirements with GIS specialists and product teams
• Document data processes, pipelines and systems for knowledge sharing and compliance

• Master's degree in a stated STEM, GIS, geospatial, data science or computer science field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 7 years
• Professional research and analysis capability in geospatial technologies
• Ability to solve moderately complex data-pipeline, data-quality and geospatial integration problems
• Experience designing or maintaining ETL pipelines that process spatial attributes
• Proficiency in English

• Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or SAFe Practitioner certification
