Job Description

Provides social and territorial support for UNDP's preparatory work on the Pupuña Indigenous Reserve recognition study in Peru. The assistant reviews social evidence, plans field access and monitoring, tracks social and logistical conditions affecting the study, integrates findings with specialists, and produces technical reports and recommendations that protect PIACI communities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review and systematise social, anthropological and territorial information for the Pupuña Indigenous Reserve request
  • Support preliminary social characterisation of communities, institutions, territorial dynamics and relevant stakeholders
  • Identify and monitor social, cultural, territorial and logistical conditions affecting the recognition study and propose adaptation measures
  • Plan field access to the Pupuña area using applicable PIACI protection protocols
  • Conduct periodic monitoring and information-gathering visits on territorial occupation, population movement and social dynamics
  • Integrate monitoring findings with EPR specialists and prepare technical reports, matrices, recommendations and documentation

Role Requirements

  • Completed secondary education
  • At least five years of experience in indigenous peoples, social management, territorial governance or public management with secondary education, or two years with a bachelor's degree
  • Ability to analyse and systematise social information
  • Fluency in Spanish

Desired Criteria

  • Experience related to indigenous peoples in isolation and initial contact
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to analyse social, anthropological and territorial information
  • Technical writing for reports, opinions and administrative documents
  • Ability to plan and organise activities to deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate with public entities, indigenous organisations and multidisciplinary teams while handling confidential information
