Job Description

Contributes to the proposed LCF380 future collider by shaping its layout, optics and performance case. The physicist conducts beam-dynamics simulations, investigates interaction regions and damping rings, and supports the summary design report, helping CERN evaluate a dual beam-delivery concept, compare design choices and optimise collider performance for a future machine.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop design aspects of the LCF380 future-collider proposal
  • Perform beam-dynamics simulations to demonstrate collider performance
  • Investigate interaction-region optics, layout and a possible dual beam-delivery system
  • Study damping rings to optimise performance
  • Contribute to the collider summary design report

Role Requirements

  • Be a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State, subject to the stated Associate Membership ceiling exclusions
  • Hold a master’s degree with two to six years of professional experience since graduation, or a PhD with a maximum of three years of professional experience since graduation
  • Have never previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract
  • Demonstrate knowledge of lepton beam dynamics and optics design, including synchrotron radiation
  • Have spoken and written English and commit to learn French
