Job Description
Provides free legal advice, representation and protection support to Afghan and Iraqi refugees and asylum seekers in Birjand. The lawyer participates in dispute-settlement committees, follows individual cases before authorities and courts, reports refugee-protection concerns to UNHCR, conducts legal-awareness sessions, and builds relationships with refugee, judiciary and legal counterparts.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and assistance to Afghan and Iraqi refugees and asylum seekers
- Represent beneficiaries before courts and tribunals on UNHCR instruction
- Report refugee-protection concerns and case types to UNHCR
- Represent UNHCR in Dispute Settlement Committee sessions
- Participate in dispute-resolution discussions
- Intervene in deportation cases when possible
- Conduct legal-awareness sessions for refugees
- Submit monthly and annual activity reports
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law
- At least three years of experience as a certified member of the Iranian Bar Association in Birjand
- Admission to practice law in Birjand, South Khorasan
- Working knowledge of English
