Job Description
This output-based consultancy will turn UNFPA’s technical Mid-Study Report on the Longitudinal Cohort Study on the Filipino Child into a publication-ready flagship product. Working with UNFPA Philippines and the USC-OPS research team, the editor will strengthen narrative flow, edit and harmonize text and visuals, and deliver a full report and abridged publication for policy and public audiences.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Review the report structure, narrative flow and coherence and prepare an editorial development strategy
- Recommend editorial restructuring and prepare an editorial workplan with UNFPA
- Produce technical and substantive copy-edits for the Mid-Study Report
- Refine the introduction, executive summary, chapter transitions, conclusions and policy messaging
- Harmonize terminology, style, figures, tables and references while ensuring consistency with annexes
- Prepare the final publication-ready manuscript in editable format and incorporate UNFPA and partner comments
- Develop an abridged report that synthesizes key findings, messages and policy implications
- Prepare publication-ready tables, figures, call-out boxes and visual elements for the abridged report
Role Requirements
- First-level university degree in communications, journalism, English, development studies, economics, demography, public policy, public health, social sciences or a related field plus at least two years of relevant professional experience, or an advanced university degree in a relevant field
- Prior relevant professional experience in technical editing, report writing, publication development or knowledge product development
- Demonstrated experience editing and developing publication-ready research reports or policy publications
- Excellent technical writing and editing skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Desired Criteria
- Familiarity with organizational branding and publication standards is an advantage
- Familiarity with demographic, population or development issues is highly desirable
- Previous work with UN agencies, government, research institutions or development organizations is an advantage

Additional Information
- Services are deliverable- and output-based, with occasional meetings at the UNFPA Country Office in Mandaluyong City
- Deliverables include an editorial review and publication development plan, an edited Mid-Study Report in MS Word, and an abridged report in editable format
- Selection and appointment may be subject to background and reference checks, medical clearance and other administrative requirements
