Job Description

Facilitates implementation of Colombia’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership. Embedded with national institutions, the adviser identifies biodiversity priorities, mobilises technical and financial support, aligns partner action and tracks delivery, helping government and stakeholders advance Global Biodiversity Framework commitments.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Identify and monitor biodiversity priorities, capacity needs and implementation challenges
  • Facilitate national multi-stakeholder dialogues on NBSAP implementation
  • Develop implementation-support workplans with host government institutions
  • Identify technical, financial and political-support needs and prepare requests for assistance
  • Support host institutions to select and monitor support packages
  • Coordinate partners and knowledge exchange to align action and avoid duplication
  • Maintain communication with national focal points and the Country Engagement Coordinator
  • Prepare periodic implementation and quarterly financial reports

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management or a related discipline, or a first-level degree with two additional years of relevant experience
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience in biodiversity conservation, project management, facilitation, stakeholder engagement or related areas
  • Experience working effectively with government institutions, civil-society organisations and international partners
  • Experience with NBSAPs, the Convention on Biological Diversity or other international biodiversity frameworks
  • Fluency in English

  • Experience working for regional or international organisations
  • Experience coordinating inter-institutional processes and supporting national policy implementation
  • Experience developing international-cooperation projects, proposals and resource mobilisation
  • Experience fostering collaboration across government, civil society, academia, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, private sector and international organisations
  • Commitment to country ownership and nationally determined priorities
