Job Description

UNDP seeks a UN Volunteer Sustainable Energy Associate in Amman to support Yemen’s Climate Change, Water, Energy and Environment portfolio. The role supports energy-transition and efficiency initiatives, renewable-energy data collection, national climate-policy alignment, financing proposals, stakeholder coordination, delivery monitoring, safeguards, and inclusive evidence-based programming.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support design and implementation of energy-transition and energy-efficiency programmes
  • Gather technical data on renewable energy, cooling and demand-side management for project-pipeline development
  • Contribute to diagnostics and assessments in fragile-state conditions
  • Align interventions with Yemen’s NDC commitments and national renewable-energy strategy
  • Support energy-project design, financing-opportunity identification and donor proposals
  • Coordinate with ministries, private-sector actors and financial institutions
  • Monitor project outputs, performance indicators and environmental and social safeguards
  • Prepare progress reports, knowledge products and communications materials

Role Requirements

  • Degree in Renewable Energy, Climate Change, International Development, Economics, Engineering or a related field
  • Climate-change mitigation and renewable-energy technology knowledge
  • Writing and communication in English
  • Monitoring and results-based-management skills

  • Previous volunteer experience or experience of another culture
