Job Description

Supports IOM Ukraine's Housing Programme by monitoring construction and repair projects in Chernivtsi Oblast. The volunteer tracks contractor progress, quality, cost and health-and-safety compliance; documents site observations; and assists technical assessments and procurement coordination. The work helps deliver safe, affordable housing solutions for displaced and crisis-affected communities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor construction activities and contractors on site against work plans and budgets and report potential delays
  • Assist quality control and document progress, changes and corrections to works
  • Support technical assessments of damaged buildings and engineering networks and document observations
  • Draft Bills of Quantities, Bills of Materials and other documentation under national legislation and IOM standards
  • Coordinate with the Supply Chain Unit on procurement, delivery of programme items and bidding processes
  • Update cost, schedule, quality and health-and-safety programme trackers
  • Review as-built documentation and monitor compliance with donor health-and-safety measures
  • Compile project-report inputs, maintain secure filing and participate in coordination meetings with external stakeholders

Role Requirements

  • Degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related field with at least four years of relevant professional experience, or a high-school diploma or certificate with at least seven years of professional experience
  • Ukrainian

Desired Criteria

  • Experience liaising with governmental authorities, institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations
  • Experience with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons or other vulnerable groups
  • Experience with non-governmental or international organisations
