Job Description

Coordinates CERN's worldwide import and export transport operations for regulated and general goods. The officer validates requests, prepares transport and customs documentation, works with carriers and freight forwarders, tracks deliveries and resolves disputes, while advising users on logistics solutions and improving compliant shipping processes across CERN's supply chain.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Validate transport requests and organise import and export shipments by road, air, sea and rail
  • Prepare and verify transport and customs documentation and ensure dangerous-goods compliance
  • Coordinate carriers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders and track timely delivery
  • Advise CERN users on logistics solutions and prepare transport quotations
  • Verify transport invoices and resolve transport issues, claims and delivery disputes
  • Improve shipping processes and logistics tools

Role Requirements

  • General secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree in commercial business administration, international transport, logistics, freight forwarding or an equivalent field
  • Maximum two years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field
  • Nationality of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State, subject to stated country ceilings
  • No previous CERN fellow or graduate contract
  • Spoken and written English and French
