Senior VPP Consultant

The Senior VPP Consultant provides strategic technical expertise to FAO's Pandemic Fund project in South Africa. The consultant will support planning, implementation and monitoring of animal-health-technician activities; develop coaching and training; guide starter-kit procurement; strengthen partnerships and business models; and monitor progress of primary animal healthcare enterprises.

• Provide technical input on activity design, project implementation, reporting and knowledge sharing for the AHT component
• Lead funding and collaborative arrangements to help animal health technicians establish sustainable clinics
• Engage complementary service-delivery models and stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities
• Develop a targeted coaching and training programme and tools to monitor AHT progress
• Guide procurement design for starter kits, including equipment requirements and specifications
• Provide remote and on-site technical support and progress monitoring for AHT businesses
• Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation, communications and knowledge-sharing products

• Advanced university degree in veterinary studies from an IAU or UNESCO recognised institution
• Bachelor's degree holders require two additional years of relevant professional experience
• At least five years of work experience in animal health
• Working knowledge of English at level C

• Knowledge of key stakeholders in the animal health field
• Strong project management skills
• Experience with computerised financial, travel and human-resources systems
