Job Description

The Regional Project Coordination Consultant supports ITU’s Africa-BB-Maps programme from Addis Ababa, coordinating implementation across beneficiary countries. The consultant tracks schedules and deliverables, consolidates reports and briefings, coordinates stakeholders and contractors, and supports administrative and regulatory arrangements required for project delivery.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of Country Project Coordinators across beneficiary countries
  • Maintain the consolidated implementation schedule and monitor project milestones, deliverables and workplans
  • Consolidate country updates into programme reports, briefing materials and presentations
  • Coordinate Ethiopia project activities, stakeholder engagement, meetings and implementation support
  • Maintain communication among beneficiaries, contractors, project consultants and stakeholders
  • Review Country Implementation Plans and contractor deliverables and follow up on comments and actions
  • Support customs clearance, duty and tax relief and entry formalities for contractor personnel
  • Support implementation and delivery of the Africa-BB-Maps Project

Role Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent advanced college diploma in communication studies, social sciences, administrative, business or economic studies, international studies, engineering or a related field
  • At least seven years of experience in project or programme coordination involving stakeholder coordination and engagement
  • Knowledge of Ethiopia’s administrative, institutional and regulatory context, including customs-clearance and duty-and-tax-relief procedures for imported equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of English
  • Candidates must be Ethiopian nationals or legal residents with a valid work permit and reside in Ethiopia throughout the assignment

Desired Criteria

  • Advanced degree is an advantage
  • Experience supporting ICT, digital-development, telecommunications or infrastructure projects is desirable
  • Experience maintaining project documentation and implementation records is desirable
  • Previous experience with the United Nations or another international organization is desirable
