Job Description
Provides strategic and operational support to FAO deputy leadership on flagship programmes and special initiatives. The officer develops, implements and evaluates programmes, coordinates budgets and partners, supports decentralized offices, and prepares policy analysis, reports, presentations and advocacy materials.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate assigned programmes and projects
- Review programme documentation, identify issues and track corrective actions
- Support policy development through issue analysis and impact studies
- Prepare background papers, analyses, reports, studies and publications
- Coordinate programme and project budgets, funding submissions and financial reporting
- Manage and monitor Deputy Director-General-led initiatives with internal and external partners
- Support the FAO Villages Recognition Initiative and annual Global Working Conference
- Coordinate decentralized-office priorities and Better Life initiatives
- Prepare presentations and support communication and advocacy activities
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in public administration, social science, political science, international development, international relations, environmental or agricultural studies or another relevant discipline
- At least five years of experience in international cooperation for development, programme or project management, administration or related work
- English
- Another FAO official language
- No more than 32 years of age as of 31 December of the application year
Desired Criteria
- Climate change, natural resource management, food security, agricultural development or disaster-risk-reduction experience
- Technical or scientific document preparation and workshop-organization experience
- Experience supporting partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, donors or government institutions
- Work experience in more than one location or field position
