Job Description

Leads a regional Programme Management and Support Section team for UN Mine Action Service, directing programme planning, budgets and implementation support for mine-action operations. The role coordinates with UN entities and field staff, develops deployment and cost plans, monitors operational effectiveness, and supplies reports and briefings for senior management, donors and UN oversight bodies.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead a regional PMSS team supporting budgeting, management and implementation of mine-action programmes
  • Coordinate programme implementation with DPO components, UN entities, agencies, funds and programmes
  • Develop cost and deployment plans with the strategic-planning support section
  • Monitor programme and operational effectiveness and introduce improvements for the assigned team
  • Develop strategic partnerships with UN entities and mine-action stakeholders
  • Coordinate reports, briefing notes and talking points for senior management, donors and oversight bodies

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, management, political, social or engineering sciences, or a related field; a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted
  • At least seven years of experience in programme planning, project management or a related activity
  • At least three years of programme-management experience in mine action, security sector reform, stabilization or humanitarian response
  • At least two years of experience in a peace or humanitarian field operation in a conflict or post-conflict setting
  • English is required
