Job Description

Provides regional technical leadership and authoritative policy advice for UNICEF programme planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting across West and Central Africa. The chief oversees quality assurance, builds country-office capacity, coordinates regional strategy and UN coherence, and supports senior leaders to plan, monitor and report regional functions and programme accountabilities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide authoritative programme-policy advice and technical expertise to regional and country leadership
  • Oversee quality assurance, technical assistance and capacity building for country-programme design and planning
  • Coordinate regional strategy development and UNICEF contributions to UN coherence and the UNSDCF agenda
  • Strengthen knowledge management, research and technical leadership across the region
  • Monitor regional programme performance, assessment and child-rights results
  • Build communication, networking and partnerships with regional offices and agencies

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences or a specialized technical discipline
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme management or advisory support
  • Fluency in French and English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in West and Central Africa
  • Experience with common country analysis or cooperation frameworks
  • Policy-advocacy experience
  • Relevant country-level experience in humanitarian contexts
