Deputy Regional Director, West and Central Africa

UNICEF seeks a Deputy Regional Director to help lead its West and Central Africa Regional Office in Dakar. The post provides strategic programme oversight, leads the Virtual Regional Programme Delivery Platform and strengthens integrated support to 24 country offices. It directs regional partnerships, advocacy, emergency and management support, advancing accountability, programme quality and sustainable results for children across the region.

• Lead the Virtual Regional Programme Delivery Platform for integrated country support
• Provide strategic programme leadership and oversight across the regional agenda and country programmes
• Coordinate differentiated, multi-country support models and multidisciplinary expertise
• Develop strategic partnerships, communications and advocacy with regional institutions and financial institutions
• Provide leadership and guidance to regional teams and country-office senior management

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, government, public administration, social development, development planning or another relevant discipline
• At least 13 years of professional experience in policy formulation and implementation, external aid administration and senior-level international development administration
• Fluency in English and French

• Experience as a UNICEF Representative, preferably at a commensurate level
• Experience managing emergencies, humanitarian and development programmes, partnerships, advocacy, sensitive situations and security-related issues
