Deputy Executive Director, Humanitarian Action and Supply Operations

Provides organization-wide executive leadership for UNICEF's humanitarian action, emergency preparedness, security coordination and global supply operations. The role directs major offices, shapes corporate policy, represents UNICEF with senior partners and deputizes for the Executive Director.

Department: Executive Office

• Lead UNICEF humanitarian policy, emergency response and implementation of the Core Commitments for Children
• Oversee global supply, procurement and logistics operations for programmes and crises
• Supervise the Office of Emergency Programmes, Office of the Security Coordinator and Supply Division
• Shape institutional strategy and corporate policy as part of the executive leadership team
• Represent UNICEF with Member States, UN entities, governments and external partners and deputize for the Executive Director

• Advanced university degree in international relations, public administration, political or social sciences, business administration or a related field
• Distinguished progressively responsible senior executive leadership record
• Senior international management experience
• Strong record leading humanitarian action in complex environments
• Extensive experience leading and managing complex security situations
• Fluency in English
• Working knowledge of another official UN language
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including to humanitarian and emergency contexts

• This is a fixed-term Assistant Secretary-General-level executive appointment based in New York and requires frequent engagement with senior UN, government, civil-society and private-sector leaders.
