Job Description

The UN Resident Coordinator Office in Damascus seeks a Partnerships Officer to coordinate UN Country Team partnerships for Sustainable Development Goal achievement. The officer will support partnership and resource-mobilisation plans, liaise with government, civil society and private-sector partners, develop financing initiatives, and build evidence and reporting that improve SDG coordination.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and monitoring of the UN Partnership Strategy
  • Coordinate UN entities and external stakeholders to define partnership opportunities
  • Identify partnership risks and support due diligence on investment opportunities
  • Develop resource-mobilisation initiatives and analyse funding relationships
  • Support country-based SDG Fund management and joint programme design
  • Prepare briefings and partnership engagement for financing for development
  • Maintain donor knowledge and analyse effective partnership models
  • Collect and present data through graphs, charts, tables and reports

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education or a related area
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in partnerships, project or programme management, resource mobilisation or development cooperation
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships with United Nations, government, private sector or civil society organisations
  • Experience designing and implementing partnerships
  • Experience in resource mobilisation strategies including private-sector financing and microfinance
  • Experience preparing project or programme proposals
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Syrian nationality

Desired Criteria

  • Completion of degree or non-degree programmes in data analytics, business analytics or data science
  • Experience of inclusion strategies promoting gender equality
  • Experience in UN interagency coordination
  • Experience promoting knowledge management in development cooperation
  • Experience supporting financing of the SDGs
  • Two or more years of data analytics experience
