Job Description

The Procurement Officer manages worldwide procurement and contractual work for DOS. The P-3 role advises requisitioning entities, runs tender and bid evaluations, negotiates with suppliers and monitors contracts. It analyses market intelligence, develops procurement strategies and maintains transparent, competitive processes that achieve value for money for UN Headquarters and field operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement and contractual aspects of complex worldwide services and commodities projects
  • Advise requisitioning units throughout the procurement cycle
  • Prepare invitations to tender and conduct bid and proposal evaluations
  • Participate in supplier negotiations and prepare Contracts Committee submissions
  • Conduct market research and analyse commodity data and market reports
  • Monitor contractual compliance and recommend contract amendments and extensions

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in business administration, public administration, commerce, engineering, law or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • Professional procurement and supply-chain certification such as CIPS Level 4 or equivalent
  • At least five years of experience in procurement, contract management or contract administration
  • At least two years conducting international tender exercises for high-value, complex goods and services contracts within the last five years
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning procurement modules and e-tendering systems
  • English is required

Desired Criteria

  • Experience supporting field operations or similar international organisations
  • Experience with business intelligence systems and data-analysis tools
