Job Description

UN Women seeks a national consultant to support inclusion and gender mainstreaming in Ukraine’s EU accession process. The Kyiv assignment provides legal and policy advice, screens legislation against the EU acquis, prepares analytical materials, convenes consultations and delivers training. It requires an advanced relevant degree, two years’ experience and fluent English and Ukrainian.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support government coordination on inclusion and gender mainstreaming for EU accession
  • Screen national legislation against EU acquis and develop alignment proposals
  • Provide legal and policy advice on gender equality and non-discrimination
  • Prepare analytical materials, presentations and enlargement-package inputs
  • Facilitate multistakeholder consultations and public discussions
  • Organize training for national and local stakeholders

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in law, public policy and administration, international relations, gender studies, social and humanitarian sciences or a related field
  • At least two years of relevant human-rights, gender-equality, governance or public-administration experience
  • Experience providing legal support to government institutions on Ukrainian legal-framework alignment within EU accession
  • Knowledge of EU acquis, human rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment frameworks
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Ukrainian

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with UN Women or other UN agencies
  • Experience with EU institutions and accession processes
  • Experience coordinating meetings and consultations with government authorities
  • Knowledge of another UN official language
