Localization Specialist

Leads technical coordination for WFP’s localization policy, focused on stronger engagement with community-based organisations in food security and nutrition. The consultant converts pilot learning into corporate guidance, advises country offices, strengthens inclusive partnerships and representation, and advances locally led humanitarian and development action across WFP operations.

• Lead implementation of localization-policy Objective 2 on community-based organisation engagement
• Adapt corporate financial, risk, partnership, capacity-strengthening, due-diligence and audit frameworks for community-based organisations
• Consolidate pilot lessons across country offices and develop corporate guidance
• Advise country offices on approaches to strengthen community-based organisation engagement
• Conduct studies and analyses on WFP engagement with community-based organisations
• Improve organisational measurement and tracking of community-based organisation engagement
• Develop guidance that strengthens local representation, visibility and influence in coordination processes
• Engage UN agencies and humanitarian mechanisms to harmonise approaches to community-based organisation engagement
• Contribute to communications products, funding proposals, donor engagement and reporting
• Integrate gender, protection and inclusion perspectives across the assignment

• Advanced University degree in International Development, Economics, Social Science or a field relevant to international development assistance
• Minimum 5 years of postgraduate professional experience in international development or humanitarian work, including at least 3 years of international experience
• Fluency in oral and written English

• Experience working or partnering with community-based organisations, including women-led, disability and refugee-led groups
• Experience within an international organisation in partner management, grant management or relevant civil-society engagement
• Knowledge of community-driven mutual aid and organisational-development practices
• Knowledge of gender, disability inclusion and protection issues in humanitarian settings
