Job Description

UNESCO seeks a six-month Regional Coordination Officer in Santiago to strengthen its participation in the UN Regional Cooperation Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean. The consultant will coordinate UNESCO inputs, support strategic positioning and alignment with UN cooperation frameworks, and provide analysis, reporting and liaison support across regional coordination mechanisms.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Regional Cooperation Platform Secretariat
  • Map UNESCO engagement opportunities in Regional Cooperation Platform initiatives and follow their implementation
  • Prepare Regional Office participation in coordination systems and meetings, including documentation, inputs and agreement follow-up
  • Support the Regional Director in positioning UNESCO and implementing Regional Cooperation Platform initiatives
  • Collect, analyse and disseminate information on UN reform and global collaboration in the region
  • Help field offices align country strategies with UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks
  • Contribute to strategic documents, statutory reports and communications with UN Country Team partners in Chile

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in a UNESCO competency area, international relations, political science, public or business administration, economics or a related field
  • At least five years of professional experience in coordination, planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of activities, projects or programmes
  • Two years of experience at international level including in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Spanish

Desired Criteria

  • Experience implementing UN-system or other multilateral reform processes
  • Experience in field-office management or field operations
