Job Description

Designs and delivers a UNFPA mentorship-capacity programme across Belize and Suriname to prevent adolescent pregnancy and improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes. The consultant prepares inception and final reports; maps mentorship, education and economic-empowerment initiatives; develops culturally relevant safe-space training content and mentor safeguards; validates screening tools;.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop the inception report methodology tools safeguards work plan and monitoring mechanism
  • Map mentorship education economic-empowerment and referral initiatives in both countries
  • Assess curricula and develop a culturally relevant Safe Space Training Package
  • Develop mentor screening recruitment and child-protection safeguarding protocols
  • Facilitate national multistakeholder validation of curriculum and screening tools
  • Conduct Training of Trainers for female mentors in Belize and Suriname
  • Develop monitoring toolkit metrics trackers and feedback tools
  • Deliver final report with sustainability and scale-up recommendations

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in public health epidemiology social sciences behavioural science international development health systems or related discipline
  • At least seven years implementing sexual and reproductive health and rights programmes
  • Safe Space and adolescent mentorship-programme experience
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Curriculum and training-package development and Training of Trainers experience

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in Indigenous Tribal or geographically remote communities
  • Landscape assessment baseline mapping or stakeholder-analysis experience
  • Economic empowerment livelihoods or life-skills programming for adolescents
  • UN government and civil-society experience
  • Spanish Dutch or Sranan Tongo
