Job Description

Support the Sustainable Development and Climate Section of the Department of Global Communications with research, media products and campaign delivery. The full-time, in-person internship tracks climate and sustainable-development information, develops print, broadcast and social-media materials, conducts visual research, supports events and mailing lists, and monitors media to advance UN communications on the SDGs and climate action.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Research and analyse information on climate change and sustainable development
  • Draft information products for target audiences
  • Conduct photo and graphic research
  • Support communications campaigns and identify information opportunities
  • Assist with events on the Sustainable Development Goals and climate action
  • Maintain media and subscription mailing lists
  • Monitor media coverage

Role Requirements

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme, or be in the final year of or have completed a bachelor's degree in a field closely related to the internship
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications
  • Knowledge of Trello and Canva
  • Knowledge of Office 365 tools, content management systems and website monitoring tools including Drupal and Google Analytics
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

  • Interns are responsible for travel, visa, accommodation and living expenses
  • Applicants must have work authorisation for the country where the internship is undertaken
  • Applicants who have already served six months as a UN Secretariat intern are ineligible
