Job Description

Supports the Guided Tours Unit at United Nations Headquarters to plan and deliver visitor-engagement, outreach and special-event activities. The intern helps develop thematic tours and educational initiatives, researches and produces communications content, and explores technologies and products that improve how diverse public audiences understand and experience the work of the United Nations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support outreach, visitor-engagement and special-event projects through research, coordination and follow-up
  • Assist with thematic tours and educational activities that enhance the visitor experience
  • Support Guided Tours Unit operations and the preparation and delivery of tours
  • Research and contribute to articles, social-media content, photographs, videos and visual materials
  • Support visitor-engagement initiatives using technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence
  • Contribute to revenue-generating activities and products for visitors

Role Requirements

  • Enrollment in or completion of the final academic year of a first university degree programme, or enrollment in or completion of a graduate degree programme
  • Field of study related to the internship
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English
  • Authorisation to work in the country where the internship is undertaken

Desired Criteria

  • Familiarity with virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence
  • Ability to take and edit photographs and videos
  • Ability to draft short articles or social-media posts with basic design skills such as Canva or Photoshop
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language
