Job Description
UNICEF Malawi is hiring an Innovation Specialist to lead digital technology-enabled programming across its country programme. The specialist will coordinate innovation and digital-transformation priorities, advise government on child-centred digital governance and responsible AI, scale technology solutions, strengthen evidence use and capacity, and build partnerships for children.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead and mainstream innovation and digital technology-enabled programming across the country programme
- Provide technical leadership for innovation planning and technology-enabled programme design, implementation, monitoring and documentation
- Coordinate programme-wide innovation and digital-transformation priorities
- Advise government counterparts on child-centred digital transformation, responsible AI governance and technology-policy implementation
- Support testing, scale-up and institutionalization of innovation products and technology-enabled solutions
- Build staff and partner capacity and foster partnerships and financing for scalable solutions
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in innovation and technology policy, public policy, business administration, digital transformation, information technology, international relations or a related discipline
- At least five years of professional experience in ICT management, business analysis, programme management, innovation, digital impact or related areas
- Fluency in English
- Experience in partnership building, resource mobilization and innovative or sustainable financing
- Strong writing, communication, negotiation, influencing and cross-functional collaboration skills
Desired Criteria
- Certification in innovation, technology or AI governance, or innovative and sustainable financing
- Experience scaling technology-enabled programmes including digital education or digital health
- Experience advising government on child-centred digital governance and technology-policy frameworks
- Experience managing partnerships with government, academia, UN agencies, NGOs and the private sector
