Job Description

UNRWA seeks an internal Human Resources Officer in its Jordan Human Resources Department to manage staff-relations cases. The role reviews grievances and appeals, advises managers on regulations and conduct, supports consultation with staff representatives, follows legal cases and disciplinary actions, and runs awareness sessions on staff rules, complaints and dispute procedures.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review grievances, complaints, appeals and staff cases under applicable regulations and procedures
  • Manage petitions and complaints from assessment through written recommendations and records
  • Support staff-management consultation and liaison with Staff Representative Bodies
  • Advise managers on disputes, conduct, underperformance, rights and responsibilities
  • Follow appeals, judgments, settlements and disciplinary measures with legal and headquarters counterparts
  • Prepare Decision Review Committee agendas, case summaries and draft responses
  • Deliver awareness sessions on rules, disciplinary measures, complaints and appeals

Role Requirements

  • University degree in law, industrial, labour or employee relations, business or public administration, human resources management, organisational development or a related discipline
  • At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources management
  • Experience interpreting and applying staff regulations, rules, policies and procedures
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Authorisation to work in Jordan and residence within commuting distance of the duty station

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of UNRWA Staff Rules and Regulations
  • Familiarity with database applications
