Job Description

Provides operational human-resources support for UN Secretariat entities served by the One Executive Office in New York. The role supports recruitment, staff appointments, entitlements, classification and separations, while maintaining HR systems and files, processing personnel actions in Umoja, responding to staff queries and helping deliver consistent administrative services.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Screen candidates, prepare profiles, conduct preliminary interviews and identify shortlists for vacancies
  • Support recruitment processes, reference checks, academic verifications and job-opening administration
  • Maintain job-opening and temporary-job-opening files and track appointment and assignment status
  • Review and process personnel actions through Umoja
  • Process entitlement requests and maintain reports from Umoja, Nova and HR Insight
  • Advise staff on recruitment, placement, relocation, promotions, performance appraisals and classification procedures
  • Conduct exit interviews, maintain separation files and prepare responses to HR-related queries
  • Maintain HR databases and statistics, prepare periodic reports and supervise new and lower-level staff

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least seven years of experience in human resources management, administrative services or a related area, reduced to five years with a first-level university degree or higher
  • English
  • Authorisation to work in the country where the position is located

Desired Criteria

  • Experience implementing United Nations common-system or similar international human-resources policies, procedures and practices
  • Experience administering staff entitlements and benefits using an ERP system such as SAP Umoja or equivalent
