Job Description

Leads WHO India’s technical work on responsible artificial intelligence for health systems, translating the national AI healthcare strategy into implementation support. The consultant advises government partners on governance, regulation, evaluation and adoption, coordinates stakeholders, builds capacity, and develops evidence, guidance and monitoring products for equitable AI-enabled health services.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead technical support for implementation of India's AI healthcare strategy
  • Advise government on AI policy, governance and standards
  • Develop AI governance, evaluation and workflow integration frameworks
  • Coordinate ministries, research bodies, technology partners and civil society
  • Support training, guidance and knowledge products
  • Monitor AI applications and generate evidence on systems impact

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in public health, health policy, health informatics or related field
  • At least two years of experience with India's health system and AI applications in healthcare
  • Fluent English
  • Indian nationality

Desired Criteria

  • Qualification in computing or artificial intelligence
  • Understanding of India's digital health architecture
  • Experience with health technology assessment or clinical workflow design

Additional info

  • Extensive travel of up to 15 days per month may be required
