Job Description
FAO seeks a Fishery Officer in Rome to strengthen fisheries and aquaculture data and information systems. The officer will manage and analyse sector data, help design data models and web interfaces, apply metadata standards, maintain platforms, prepare technical products, build Member capacity and coordinate data-sharing work with international and regional partners.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Manage, process and analyse fisheries and aquaculture data
- Design data models and web-based user interfaces
- Apply data and metadata standards to improve interoperability
- Maintain fisheries and aquaculture web platforms
- Prepare and review technical documents and communication materials
- Support Member training and technical assistance on data systems
- Coordinate data-sharing initiatives with partners and stakeholders
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in biology, fishery science, natural sciences, marine ecology or a related discipline
- Three years of relevant fisheries or aquaculture data-management, analysis or information-systems experience
- Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language
Desired Criteria
- Experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly field positions
- Experience supporting trainings, workshops or capacity development activities
- Experience gathering requirements and interacting with technical teams
