Finance Assistant

The role supports transparent and efficient use of WFP financial resources through finance, budget and administrative services. It monitors forecasts, account balances and approved expenditure, verifies claims and receivables, processes compliant transactions and supplier payments, validates data from financial systems, maintains auditable records and guides support staff in consistent service delivery.

• Provide procedural and technical support on finance and budget rules and processes
• Monitor monthly expenditure forecasts and prepare reports for informed decisions
• Review bank, petty-cash and account balances and process timely financial transactions
• Verify supplier claims, advances and receivables and support compliant payments
• Compile budget, accounting, finance and statistical reports from multiple sources
• Validate financial-system information and follow up discrepancies and corrective action
• Track approved expenditure and ensure costs and invoices are correctly charged and processed
• Maintain invoice and payment records and train other support staff in required standards

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
• Minimum five years of experience in finance and accounting
• Fluency in spoken and written English

• Membership in a professional accountancy body
• Experience in public accounting
• Experience collecting, monitoring and analysing financial data for senior management
