Job Description
Provides legal and technical support to UNODC Ecuador's work on organised crime, security and criminal justice. The volunteer analyses national and international legal frameworks, develops cooperation instruments and technical reports, and supports assistance to public institutions, project coordination and dialogue with government, civil society and international partners.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide legal support on organised crime, security and criminal justice matters
- Analyse and respond to legal queries under applicable national and international frameworks
- Draft cooperation agreements and legal instruments with strategic counterparts
- Analyse legislation and legal documents and prepare conceptual and technical reports
- Collect, analyse and systematise information from UNODC Ecuador projects
- Support technical assistance to public institutions using UNODC global tools
- Participate in technical meetings with authorities, civil society, academia and international cooperation partners
- Support logistical coordination for UNODC Ecuador activities
Role Requirements
- Degree in law, social sciences, international relations or a related field
- At least three years of relevant general experience
- At least two years of experience in organised crime, security, criminal justice or related areas
- Experience in criminal law and/or criminal procedure
- Experience drafting, reviewing and analysing legal documents and technical reports
- Spanish
Desired Criteria
- Postgraduate study or specialisation in criminal law, criminal procedure, criminology, security, organised crime or criminal justice
- Experience developing security and organised-crime regulatory tools
- Experience in private law firms, NGOs or academia
- Experience with public justice or security institutions
- Experience in international cooperation projects
- Previous United Nations experience
