Job Description

The Environmental Inspection Specialist supports UNODC's INPOED project in Brazil by coordinating state-level action against environmental crime in the Amazon. The assignment engages government and justice-sector counterparts, builds partnerships, organises technical activities and dialogues, monitors delivery risks, and prepares policy, technical and progress reporting for evidence-based environmental governance.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support state-level INPOED project activities in the Amazon region
  • Engage senior state and local institutional counterparts
  • Build cooperation among government, justice, environmental and Indigenous organisations
  • Support technical activities, training, workshops and multi-stakeholder dialogues
  • Monitor delivery progress and identify political or institutional risks
  • Propose corrective measures for timely results
  • Collect and analyse data and prepare technical, policy and progress reports

Role Requirements

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations, public-policy dialogue or institutional coordination
  • Ability to build strategic partnerships and facilitate inter-agency cooperation
  • Experience in the Amazon or similarly complex operational environments
  • Experience in project implementation and coordination

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in law enforcement, natural-resource management or criminal justice related to environmental crime
  • Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Experience preparing policy briefs, strategic analyses or recommendations for senior government stakeholders
