Job Description

Supports South Africa's Department of Basic Education to strengthen analysis, reporting and use of Education Management Information System data for policy, planning and improved education outcomes. The national consultant will analyse large education datasets, generate evidence and support secure, compliant management of learner and educator information within the national reporting system.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Analyse EMIS data to generate actionable insights for education policy and planning
  • Strengthen data analytics, reporting and knowledge-generation functions within EMIS
  • Support use of LURITS education data for monitoring and reporting
  • Work with large education datasets and support their dissemination
  • Handle sensitive data in line with POPIA compliance processes

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Information Technology, Social Sciences or a related field
  • At least eight years of relevant experience in data or statistical analysis or social-science research
  • Ability to work with large datasets and disseminate education-related data
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Understanding of the education system and legislative framework
  • Good writing skills
  • One other South African language
