Job Description

The Electrical Engineer provides electrical engineering support for potable-water and irrigation infrastructure in Deir-ez-Zor, covering design review, procurement, construction supervision, testing and commissioning. The assignment develops compliant electrical and solar-energy documentation, monitors contractors and works, and maintains quality, HSSE and project-control standards for UNOPS work.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assess electrical-system needs for water and irrigation infrastructure
  • Prepare and review electrical specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and cost estimates
  • Review electrical and solar-energy designs against project requirements and international standards
  • Inspect sites and report progress, issues and lessons learned
  • Coordinate system testing, commissioning, training and handover to beneficiaries
  • Monitor contractor compliance with quality, HSSE and environmental plans
  • Maintain engineering records and contribute to periodic progress reports

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 2 years of relevant experience
  • At least 2 years of experience designing or supervising electrical systems works
  • Experience designing solar photovoltaic systems and related electrical components
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Fluent English and fluent Arabic

Desired Criteria

  • Project management certificates
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering association
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Experience with Primavera or MS Project
  • Experience with an international organization or UN agency
  • Experience in the Syrian context and targeted areas
