Civil Engineer

The Civil Engineer supports UNOPS infrastructure delivery in Deir-ez-Zor, managing civil works from planning through construction supervision, quality assurance and handover. The role coordinates contractors and stakeholders, safeguards HSSE compliance, monitors risks and reports progress. Applicants need a civil-engineering degree route, applicable experience, and English and Arabic proficiency.

• Plan and manage civil engineering projects from design to completion
• Support planning and scheduling of rehabilitation and construction activities
• Review technical documentation, bills of quantities and cost estimates
• Conduct site assessments and inspections against specifications
• Monitor contractors and implementing partners for quality and timely delivery
• Ensure compliance with HSSE, environmental safeguards and PSEAH standards
• Maintain site records and compile project progress reports
• Support commissioning, handover and archiving of construction documentation

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering or a related field with two years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with no experience
• Relevant experience in civil engineering, structural works, construction technology, construction supervision and monitoring
• Intermediate English proficiency
• Fluent Arabic proficiency

• Professional certification or membership in a civil engineering association
• Experience in multicultural environments or United Nations system organisations in a developing country
