Economist

Contributes to the World Bank's Fiscal Policy and Growth work in Mozambique, combining macroeconomic and fiscal analysis with lending operations, policy dialogue and technical assistance. The economist develops projections and knowledge products, supports government reform priorities, and works with public, private and development partners to strengthen inclusive, job-rich growth.

• Contribute to macroeconomic and fiscal advisory services, analytics and lending operations
• Collect, validate and maintain economic, fiscal, debt and socioeconomic data for Mozambique
• Prepare medium-term macroeconomic projections using economic and financial models
• Develop macroeconomic, public-finance, growth and debt-sustainability knowledge products
• Support financing operations, policy actions and technical assistance for government reforms
• Contribute to policy dialogue on macro-fiscal policy, domestic revenue mobilisation and structural transformation
• Build partnerships and disseminate World Bank knowledge products to government and development stakeholders

• Master's degree in economics or a closely related field and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
• Solid background in macroeconomic modelling, fiscal analysis and applied economic policy analysis
• Knowledge of Mozambique's development challenges and policy priorities
• Ability to analyse macroeconomic, fiscal, debt, external-sector and socioeconomic datasets
• Excellent analytical, drafting and communication skills in English and Portuguese
• Fluency in English and Portuguese

• PhD in economics or a closely related field
• Experience with World Bank financing operations or similar multilateral operations
