Job Description

Provides safe and reliable transport for UNESCO staff, officials, visitors and authorized personnel in Dar es Salaam. The driver plans routes, observes security procedures, maintains the assigned vehicle and its documents, supports airport arrivals and field trips, reports incidents, and performs related administrative tasks that keep office transport operations safe, compliant and available.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Drive UNESCO staff, officials, visitors and authorized personnel using official and project vehicles
  • Plan trip itineraries and select routes while observing security instructions and procedures
  • Meet personnel and visitors at the airport and facilitate basic visa and customs formalities
  • Maintain vehicle logs, arrange repairs and complete daily checks of oil, tires, brakes and water
  • Keep vehicle insurance, registration, first-aid supplies and spare parts available and current
  • Report accidents accurately and operate vehicle HF, VHF radio and satellite-phone equipment
  • Deliver and collect mail, documents and other items and cover other drivers during leave

Role Requirements

  • Minimum high school certificate
  • Valid national driver's license
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Fluency in English and Swahili, oral and written

Desired Criteria

  • Passenger Service Vehicle driving courses from reputable institutions
  • Knowledge of UN vehicle rules and regulations
