Development Coordinator

The assignment coordinates UN-Habitat's housing, land and informal-settlements work across headquarters, the Asia-Pacific Regional Office and country teams. It aligns policy and partnerships on climate-resilient housing and displacement, supports global forums and donor engagement, and develops knowledge, monitoring and communications outputs that advance sustainable urban development.

• Coordinate alignment between UN-Habitat headquarters, the Asia-Pacific Regional Office and regional and country offices on climate-resilient housing and displacement
• Coordinate UN-Habitat policy inputs, recommendations and advocacy for the 2026 OEWG-H3 process on adequate housing
• Support engagement in the Global Humanitarian Cluster architecture on shelter, housing, land and property rights
• Engage UN agencies, member states, development partners, experts and civil-society organisations to advance policy coherence and knowledge exchange
• Strengthen collaboration with JICA and Japanese institutions and identify partnership and funding opportunities
• Develop monitoring frameworks and provide evidence-based reporting on programme results
• Plan content for international forums and develop knowledge materials, guidance and policy briefs
• Provide donor updates and ensure donor visibility in communications, events and publications

• Specialization in international relations, development studies, environmental and climate-related studies, housing, slum transformation, urban planning or a related field, or three years of relevant work experience in these fields
• Three to five years of experience in project design, implementation and knowledge-material development related to housing, informal settlements, climate resilience and displacement
• Very good English writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Experience with a national or international development or humanitarian organisation in developing or climate- or crisis-affected contexts
