Job Description

Supports the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management’s Meetings Support Section in New York with Russian-language desktop publishing. The assistant produces official documents and publications using digital tools, incorporates editorial changes, corrects formatting and layout, retrieves and verifies reference material, supports visual and web information products, and works.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Produce official documentation supplements and publications using digital publishing technologies
  • Incorporate reporter reviser and editor changes into final documents
  • Perform formatting and layout corrections to materials
  • Retrieve documents from the United Nations Official Documents System
  • Research and verify terminology on the Intranet
  • Assist with visualisations and web pages or brochures

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in digital publishing technologies draft typing copy editing proofreading typographical layout or related area
  • Knowledge of digital publishing and design applications such as Adobe InDesign
  • English and Russian are required
  • Authorization to work for the United Nations in the duty station

Desired Criteria

  • Studies in desktop publishing proofreading or related area
  • Experience with UN publication practices
  • Experience in multichannel publishing or workflow management tools
