Job Description

Provides day-to-day leadership of UN Women Nepal's Country Office and steers its country programme and supporting operations. The post manages programme teams, strategic planning, implementation and results oversight; advises the Country Representative; represents UN Women in coordination forums; and advances partnerships, resource mobilisation, advocacy, knowledge sharing and staff development.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage the programme teams' day-to-day work and annual workplan
  • Lead programme conceptualisation, planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Oversee programme implementation, finances and results-based reporting
  • Advise the Country Representative on strategic areas and programme direction
  • Represent UN Women in UN Country Team and humanitarian coordination as delegated
  • Build relationships with government, partners, stakeholders and donors
  • Lead advocacy, public communication, knowledge sharing and capacity-building activities
  • Manage and coach supervised personnel

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in international development, public administration, public policy or another relevant social science field, or a first-level degree with two additional qualifying years
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible professional experience combining strategic and managerial leadership in development programmes focused on gender equality and women's empowerment
  • Field-based experience working with multicultural teams
  • Experience leading and coaching staff in international settings
  • Fluency in English and Nepali
  • Open to Nepalese nationals only

Desired Criteria

  • Project or programme management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or MSP
  • Experience using Oracle Cloud
