Develops and validates ESCWA’s Regional Connectivity and Prosperity Framework, designing an index and empirical model to assess strategic assets, investment systems and institutional readiness, then translating regional evidence into policy recommendations for the Arab region.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Refine the conceptual framework for the regional connectivity index
- Design methodology for indicators, weighting, aggregation and validation
- Develop and validate an analytical model and component indices
- Analyse regional results and derive policy recommendations
- Assess data quality, comparability and gaps
- Provide technical guidance and incorporate expert feedback
Role Requirements
- PhD in economics or a related field
- At least 15 years of research experience on regional development issues
- Publication in reputed peer-reviewed journals
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Experience leading high-level initiatives for international organisations
- Quantitative analysis and interpretation experience
Skills to Have
Additional info
- Remote six-month consultancy with three deliverables due in September, October and November 2026
