Job Description
The World Bank seeks a Chief Equity Risk Officer for Asia to lead equity-risk assessment and portfolio oversight across IFC investments. The role evaluates equity and mezzanine transactions, develops risk recommendations for committees, monitors portfolio and market developments, mentors staff and supports decisions across sectors, countries and stages of company development in emerging markets.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess equity and mezzanine investment risks
- Monitor portfolio, sector, country and market developments
- Formulate recommendations for corporate committees and senior management
- Support transaction structuring and portfolio-risk oversight
- Maintain networks on market conditions and emerging portfolio issues
- Contribute to investment knowledge management and training
- Mentor junior equity-risk staff
- Apply corporate-governance and risk-reward analysis
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, economics, international affairs or a similar field
- At least 10–15 years of relevant experience with a major emerging-markets investor
- Investment-committee decision-making experience
- Experience across the full equity investment cycle including origination, structuring, portfolio management, valuation, exits and distressed situations
Desired Criteria
- Board-member or fund-advisory-committee experience
